Eastside Costa Mesa borders Newport Beach, the back bay, and tends to be one of the most expensive areas for Costa Mesa real estate. It's filled with character and varies street to street with some areas being very close to John Wayne Airport, others having water views, and some plotted next to apartment buildings or commercial lots. Much of Eastside is close to the beach and 17th street which is filled with shopping, restaurants, and bars, so it is not uncommon to see people walking or riding bikes to their favorite destinations. Eastside has everything from Bungalow style beach homes to modern mini-mansions, so driving through the neighborhood is always an adventure.
